PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- For the first time, the General Assembly is posting committee votes online.

Four months after adding House and Senate floor votes to its website, the Assembly on Monday added committee votes, which are accessible from the Assembly's Legislative Information page through a link that reads "Committee Votes."

You can click there directly by going to: http://committee.rilin.state.ri.us/

The "Committee Votes" webpage lets readers choose the committee they are looking for and then choose from a list of dates on which the committee acted. After clicking on the date, readers can also click on a details link for each vote, which shows a list of committee members and how they voted.

As of 4 p.m. Monday, the votes of one committee -- House Corporations -- were accessible, with the link showing votes on bills the committee took last Wednesday.

Going forward, the votes of other committees will be added as the House and Senate floor calendars are prepared and posted on the Assembly website, said House spokesman Larry Berman.

In practice, that means the committee votes will be posted either the day of the committee hearing or the next day, Berman said.
