PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Governor Chafee has hired Christine Hunsinger, who was campaign manager for Moderate Party candidate Ken Block's competing campaign for governor, as his legislative director.

Chafee had earlier tapped retired District Court Judge Stephen Erickson for the job, but Erickson backed out.

Prior to her work with the Moderate Party, Hunsinger was campaign director for the House Democratic Campaign Committee of Pennsylvania and worked on the campaign of Jeff Beatty, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts.

Hunsinger holds a B.A. in political science from St. Anselm College and an M.P.A. from Brown University.
