The endorsements are just 2 of 19 the committee announced for statewide, legislative and local races. All but two endorsements went to Democrats, the exceptions being Chafee, a former Republican who is running for governor as an independent, and Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung, a Republican who is seeking reelection.
In other statewide races, the committee endorsed incumbent Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis, attorney general candidate Stephen R. Archambault and general treasurer candidate Gina M. Raimondo.
In General Assembly races, the committee endorsed Juan M. Pichardo in Senate District 2, Maria E. Cimini in Senate District 7, Wynnel D. Wilson in House District 9, Scott A. Slater in House District 10, Grace Diaz in House District 11 and Joseph S. Almeida in House District 12.
In the Providence mayoral race, the committee endorsed Angel Taveras.
Other candidates receiving the PAC's endorsement are Samuel D. Zurier, Providence City Council Ward 2; Hamlet M. Lopez Jr., Providence City Council Ward 8; Joseph P. Buchanan, Providence City Council Ward 11; Sabina Matos, Providence City Council Ward 15; Emilio L. Navarro, Cranston City Council Ward 2; and Christopher J. Petrarca, North Providence Council seat 1.
Doris M. De Los Santos, the PAC's president, said the endorsed candidates were chosen based on personal interviews and answers to a questionnaire.
