The man who recently shocked the political world and inspired conservatives across the country is set to headline a local fundraiser next month for Rhode Island congressional candidate John J. Loughlin III.
While the location has yet to be finalized, newly-elected Republican Sen. Scott Brown, of Massachusetts, will appear at a private home in Bristol on the afternoon of Saturday, June 12, according to Loughlin's campaign manager Cara Cromwell.
"During the last few months I have been fortunate to secure support from a number of local, state and national leaders for whom I have tremendous respect and Senator Brown is certainly among them," Loughlin said in a "save the date" sent to supporters. "His historic win in Massachusetts was an inspiration to me and showed all of us that voters are willing to look beyond party and vote for the best candidate."
Brown defeated Democrat Martha Coakley in a special election earlier in the year to win the U.S. Senate seat long held by the late Edward Kennedy.
The likely price to attend a VIP reception with Brown will be the annual maximum contribution of $2,400, according to Cromwell. And there will likely be a separate garden party that will cost $200 a head.
"We're optimistic it's going to be a very exciting," Cromwell said.
