PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Former House Speaker William J. Murphy has a new legislative role.

Murphy, D-West Warwick, was one of four new appointees to the House Finance Comittee, announced on the House floor on Tuesday.

New House Speaker Gordon D. Fox also appointed Representatives Douglas Gablinske, D-Bristol, Chris Fierro, D-Woonsocket, and Mary Ann Shallcross Smith, D-Lincoln, to openings on the House budget-writing committee.
