Kennedy's press secretary leaving for R.I. Foundation post

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Kerrie Bennett, Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy's press secretary since 2008, said Thursday that she will depart the congressman's staff to become a senior communications officer at the non-profit Rhode Island Foundation.

Kennedy recently announced that he will not seek reelection this fall.

Taking Bennett's place will be Derek Pearce, deputy press secretary.
