PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- City Councilor John J. Lombardi, who announced Monday that he is running for mayor, appointed former local television news reporter Julie Ruditzky to serve as campaign press secretary, according to a news release Friday.

Ruditzky worked for ABC 6 News covering Providence City Hall, among other things in the city.

A graduate of Fordham University, she covered New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's administration, the 2004 presidential primary, and has made appearances on CNN, Fox News Channel, WFSB-TV, and WVIT-TV.
