PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- Republican gubernatorial candidate John Robitaille plans on leaving his job as Governor Carcieri's $129,705 communications director at the end of next week.

When he announced on January 12 his candidacy to replace his term-limited boss, Robitaille said he intended to leave his State House post in two to three weeks.

On Friday, he confirmed his plan to leave January 29, after Carcieri has delivered his eighth and final state of the state address.
