| Carcieri cancels trip to GOP governors meeting in Texas »
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Carcieri is headed to the Hyatt Regency resort and spa in Lost Pines, Texas Wednesday for the Republican Governors Association's annual conference. Before heading back Thursday, he is scheduled to moderate a discussion on energy. But spokeswoman Amy Kempe said the RGA will pay for all of the governor's travel costs, including his airfare and hotel accommodations. She said the state is picking up the $304.60 in airfare to send with him a state trooper she declined to identify. But she said the RGA will pay for all of the trooper's other travel costs, including his accommodations and meals. In between discussion groups on energy, health care and the "2010 campaign battlefield,'' there will a plethora of "optional activities,'' including horseback riding, skeet and trap, archery and a 'trunk show and clothing boutique'' for the governors and their spouses. Kempe said "Mrs. Carcieri has not decided if she will attend.'' CommentsLeave a comment |

While the RIGA will pick up the trooper's travel costs, we will not only get to pick up his $304.60 airfare but the HUGELY overinflated amount of overtime he'll work while "guarding" the governor 24/7 for days on end while he discusses "the 2010 campaign battlefield" - a subject that, thank sweet God, he will not have to worry about....
This is NOT an essential travel expense for a lame duck Republican governor. This is his play at having his fat face in front of national cameras yet again so he can make some kind of national bid for attention. It's disgusting how much he sucks up to Faux News. Colbert has him down pat! Donnie needs to stay home and focus on actually doing something positive for the state...
