R.I. Senate to return next week to consider judgeships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The full Senate will return Wednesday to consider judicial appointments.

The Senate Judiciary committee will convene at 4 p.m. Tuesday to consider two nominees and on Wednesday, to consider two more.

On Tuesday, the committee will hold confirmation hearings on Family Court nominee John E. McCann III and District Court nominee J. Terence Houlihan Jr. On Wednesday, the committee will consider the governor's elevation of Superior Court Judge Alice B. Gibney to presiding justice of the Superior Court, and the nomination of Brian P. Stern to a Superior Court judgeship.

The calls were going out to Senators Thursday afternoon notifying them of next week's return date.
