PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- We couldn't help but notice an interesting note on Governor Carcieri's public schedule for Tuesday.
In the 4 to 5 p.m. slot, he scheduled a "photo opportunity with constituents."
"It's an opportunity for the governor to fill the many requests for photos that's a little more personal than a head shot," Carcieri spokeswoman Amy Kempe said, noting that the governor does send out head shots when asked.
The State Room session -- which comes on the eve of the House state budget debate -- is open to the public, but the photo opportunities are saved for those with appointments, according to Kempe. She couldn't say how many people were signed up or who they were.
"Occasionally, it's beauty contest winners. Other times it can be sports teams, or children or adults who have received special recognition," Kempe continued. "The photos are for their own personal use."
While constituents are free to bring their own cameras, the governor's staff takes photos and e-mails digital copies.
