Director of Revenue Gary S. Sasse will face a confirmation hearing this afternoon in his nomination to become the new director of the state Department of Administration. Sasse, a former longtime head of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, last fall became Governor Carcieri's pick to be the first-ever revenue chief. Last month, the governor recommended that Sasse take over at DOA. If confirmed, Sasse will replace outgoing Director Jerome Williams, who left his $143,011-a-year job this month to become the senior vice president and chief business and administration officer at Roger Williams University in Bristol. Today's hearing will be held before the Senate Committee on Finance, the body responsible for evaluating his candidacy. The hearing will be at the conclusion of the Senate floor session in Room 211 at the State House. It is open to the public. |
