Today was supposed to be the day Governor Carcieri delivered his Fiscal Year 2010 budget proposal to state lawmakers.

Not happening.

By law, his tax and spending plans for the year beginning on July 1 were due last month, but the governor has already asked for and received two extensions from legislative leaders.

Spokeswoman Amy Kempe said earlier today: "The budget submission will be delayed to allow the governor to meet with House and Senate leaders to discuss the impact of the federal stimulus law. I do not have a date certain for submission, but should have more information later this week.''
