Governor Carcieri has announced he will release his 2010 budget less than two weeks from now, on Tuesday, March 10. Carcieri says he also intends that day to unveil an again-revised version of his mid-year budget repair bill to reflect the arrival of federal stimulus funds. Last month, the governor released a revamped version of his 2009 budget, intended to plug deficit holes. His 2010 budget was expected to follow. But on Feb. 4, Carcieri received permission from legislative leaders to take another two weeks to prepare his spending plan for the year that begins July 1, an extension that took him through Tuesday. The roll out was again delayed as the administration waited for more details on the stimulus money before releasing its budgetary plans. In a press conference today to formally accept the federal money, Carcieri said he is moving forward with plans for the March 10 unveiling.
