State police are investigating a complaint that close to $4,000 in checks issued by the General Assembly were signed and cashed without ever making it into the hands of the Senate pages for whom they were intended. Lt. Col. Steven O'Donnell has confirmed that state police have been investigating in response to a complaint filed last week by Marisa White, director of the Joint Committee on Legislative Affairs. O'Donnell said White reported the diversion of about eight checks, each amounting to "several hundred dollars'' each. He said the "checks were cashed by somebody." After interviewing White last week, O'Donnell said it appears to be "a viable complaint.'' |
