PROVIDENCE -- Governor Carcieri's spokeswoman Amy Kempe has confirmed that Director of Revenue Gary S. Sasse is a candidate for the state's director of administration job, a post being vacated by outgoing Director Jerome Williams.
Sasse, a former longtime head of the Rhode Island Public Expenditures Council, last fall became Carcieri's pick to be the state's first-ever revenue chief.
Williams will leave his $143,011-a-year director job on Feb. 2 to become the senior vice president and chief business and administration officer at Roger Williams University in Bristol.
