It turns out taxpayers will pay for the televised speech last night in which Governor Carcieri outlined his plans for raising new revenues and cutting state spending to plug a potential $357 million current-year deficit.

Spokeswoman Amy Kempe said the cameras and other audio-visual equipment were provided by the Warwick-based Bogh AV Productions.

As she explained it: "Bogh AV worked with the three TV stations (the pool box) to allow all stations (and radio) to plug in and record/air the address.''

She said the final invoice has not arrived, but expectations are it will come in "below $2,000.'' Whatever it is, she said it would be charged against the governor's budget.

Enough is Enough, it is commentary such as yours that overlooks the real issue. It is not that the governor spent money so all would be informed but the issue is that we are in a Mess and need to get out. I give the Governor an A- for some great innovative ideas that this state has long needed.

The gov is an idiot. He is the worst gov the state has ever had. Everywhere he goes he creates a mess with lots of promises and no delivery. His reign of almost 8 years has been the biggest disaster. What of the big audit, where are the companies he promised. All he ever did was increase the unemployment to the highest in the country and give his rich friends the biggest tax breaks in the history of RI. Nick job bozo

No more taxes.

Name me a state that has higher taxes (one that I would actually want to move to).

The Governor is at the 20 yard line and the score is tied with goal to go. The team that he leads has made progress but still requires more attention to detail and most of all must maintain team work for the remainder of the game.

Yes, Governor Don Carcieri has been a very welcomed Change Agent for The reforming of our State of Rhode Island. That means Same, new, different, and finally gone. Has this journey of reform been perfect? Clearly no it has not. Could the Governor have done better especially at the onset? Perhaps better partnering with the General Assembly? Yes. Could the general assembly have better recognized the need for and embraced the dearly required reform? YES. WE citizens still await the behavior of the RI General Assembly to become more responsible and exhibit a partnership and team work with the Governor.

Governor Carcieri has made significant efforts to supplement the demonstrated citizens void in a realistic understanding as to fundamental affordability e.g. management discipline and the underpinnings of economics and creating maintaining a workable business climate.

Unfortunately the governor was unable to move as rapidly as The almost dysfunctional State government & companion economy required for several reasons. Yes, he faced the entrenched overpaid benefactors and the citizens in general lacking a realistic expectation in part perhaps do to generations of an education system dispensing a almost self serving dogma - liberal utopia concentrating on what to think vs the skills of how to maintain an independent realistic critical thinking.

Governor Don Carcieri is one of the best Governors that the State of RI as had in my life time. He has devised a tactic's and strategy to address the almost non functional state government of RI after 70 years of pseudo socialism liberal largess and an unworkable, unaffordable client provider relationship with its citizens coupled to a unfordable union utopia.

Governor Don Carcieri has been a change agent addressing the reform of the state of RI government in a continuous piece wise fashion in spite of significant resistance from the entrenched, unhealthy and unfordable relationships e.g. Client provider mentality from a large block of citizens and state & local government employees. Last a general assembly lacking in a fundamental foundation and prescriptive to represent the citizens of RI while maintaining a workable and affordable government devoid of corruption. Finally a General Assembly unable to maintaining a realistic finical responsibility.

We should all acknowledge the progress that Governor Don Carcieri has made in reforming our State Government and the ethical , business & economic environment of RI such that once again with continued discipline and hard work by all citizens (including the General Assembly) we once again will enjoy the opportunity based on creating wealth by adding value in a fair and reasonable climate for business and commerce.

Again, Governor thank you for your efforts and the progress that you have made in reforming The State of Rhode Island such that down the road with continued dedication by all citizens Opportunity for our children and grandchildren will once again be possible.
