The committee today was getting an overview of expenditures for the fiscal years 2008 and 2009. It's also meeting tomorrow and Wednesday to learn more about Rhode Island's troubled budget situation. The state is facing an estimated $357-million budget deficit this fiscal year and an estimated $450-million gap in the next fiscal year.
