Carcieri chum and Republican loyalist John "J. R." Pagliarini has a new job -- or at least a second job.

Political Scene was surprised to see in a recent Rhode Island College newsletter sent to students and alumni that Pagliarini was listed as the interim executive director of the RIC Foundation, the college's fundraising arm.

Last winter, the governor dismissed Pagliarini as his deputy chief of staff to open a slot for another Carcieri soldier, Beverly Najarian. But Pagliarini soon landed at the Office of Higher Education in a $115,000-a-year job as associate commissioner of higher education.

So has he moved again? No says, higher-education spokesman Steven J. Maurano. Pagliarini is still an associate commissioner. He is also working at the RIC Foundation, on an interim basis, though Maurano said he does not believe Pagliarini is drawing a salary for that position. Pagliarini did not return a call for comment.

RIC spokeswoman Jane Fusco confirmed that Pagliarini is filling in at the RIC Foundation, several days a week.
