PROVIDENCE -- A holiday greeting from Mayor David N. Cicilline arrived in the e-mail box a few minutes ago.

It's in the form of a 34-second YouTube video.

You, too, can watch the mayor, seated before a wooden mantlepiece, decorated with photos, as he says, in part:

"As you begin to prep to spend time for the holidays with your family and loved ones,
I wanted to thank you for your friendship and support. Together we've made great progress in the city. And although wee're living in very challenging times, the holidays are a time of renewal -- renewal of spirit and optimism."
