The face of Rhode Island's young Democrats has changed.

The group, which functions as an official political action committee, has elected a new leadership team after three years under president Andy Andujuar, 29, and vice president Matt Jerzyk, 31, of the local political blog Rhode Island's Future.

Meghan Grady will be the group's new leader; a former page in the Rhode Island Senate, she currently works as the "state health alliance director" for the American Heart Association's Providence office, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The group's new vice president will be 25-year-old Kimberly Ahern, a Roger Williams Law School student and regular contributor to local blogs. Eric Coury, 25, will serve as the group's national committeeman; he replaces Julian Dash.

"We are incredibly grateful for the three years of leadership that Andy, Matt and Julian have given our organization," Grady said in a statement. "They did what all great leaders do: leave the organization in a much stronger position than how they found it. Our new leadership team hopes to do the same."

Jerzk also had something to say:

"More than 30,000 young voters registered to vote in the last 18 months," he said. "And the Young Democrats were not only instrumental in registering young people, but we organized hundreds of young people to get on buses to carry the battleground state of New Hampshire for Obama and solicited the help of people like Martin Sheen to do robocalls encouraging young people to come out and vote."

The Young Dems most recent campaign finance report shows that they've been active in the money game as well.

The group had $4,348.65 on hand seven days before Election Day, according to its filing, which included contributions from the [U.S. Sen. Jack] Reed Committee (of $1,000), the [General Treasurer Frank] Caprio Committee ($500), Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts ($250) and Friends of [Attorney General] Patrick Lynch ($250).
