By Barbara Polichetti CRANSTON -- Democratic mayoral candidate Cindy Fogarty will speak about the relationship between faith and government at the 9 a.m. service this Sunday at the Church of the Ascension, 390 Pontiac Ave. She is also expected to discuss neighborhood issues. Fogarty, who served two terms on the Cranston City Council, would be the city's first woman mayor if elected but she is locked in a tight battle with Republican Allan Fung -- also an alumnus of the council. Both Fogarty and Fung have prior mayoral bids under their belts. Fogarty lost to incumbent Democratic Mayor Michael T. Napolitano in a 2006 primary. Napolitano moved onto the general election, where he squeaked by Fung by 79 votes. Fogarty and Fung have both been campaigning aggressively, citing their respective records on the council. |
