Rep. Patrick Kennedy was greeted by Vivian Weisman, executive director of the Mental Health Association of R.I., at a thank-you party today at Providence Piers. Kennedy was the co-sponsor of mental health parity legislation recently passed by Congress. The bill, which was years in the passing, requires insurers to cover mental illness on a par with physical illness.
Right now in the US.... as our date of Nov 4th gets closer....
During the recent and still ongoing Wall Street Bail out mess - Given the performance of our RI elected Senators and congressman / House of Representatives members we should carefully consider writing our own name and address in on the ballot this year. Perhaps this might just send the message that we think that their performance was unacceptable/
re the presidential race please consider the following guidance from a very great man.
Words of a famous historical leader....
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.
By none other than....
Abraham Lincoln
Yes, even in RI we do still have a voice if we have trhe backbone to use it!
