U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy's office today announced his new press secretary is Kerrie Bennett, who for the past three years was a spokeswoman and projects manager for the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority. Before her time with the convention center authority, Bennett was policy director for the state's General Treasurer Paul Tavares. She began as a legislative assistant and deputy press secretary for Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., when he was in the U.S. House of Representatives. "She brings more than ten years of communications and government experience that will certainly be an asset to my office as we continue to expand our media outreach capabilities," Kennedy, a Rhode Island Democrat, said in the statement. Bennett replaces Robin Costello, who was Kennedy's press secretary for the past three years. Bennett is a Rhode Island native with a bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and a masters in business administration from the University of Rhode Island, Kennedy's office said. |
