E-mails are circulating around Rhode Island from Barack Obama's campaign recruiting local supporters to take part in "Camp Obama."

Ray Sullivan, state director for the Obama campaign in Rhode Island says in the e-mail, "during these training sessions, people like you will be taking their support for Barack to the next level by learning the organizing principles that this campaign and our movement for change are built on.

"Camp Obama attendees will receive real-world organizing experience that will have a direct impact on this election. Graduates of Camp Obama will go on to become Deputy Field Organizers who will lead this campaign to victory in crucial battleground states around the country."

The organizers liken it to "the kind of experience that Barack got as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago, where he learned that real change happens from the bottom up."

OBAMA = BETRAYAL
Obama supporters are foolish to think that he will never betray them.
Obama was a close friend of Pastor Wright for TWENTY YEARS.
Obama threw Wright under the bus for personal ambition.
McCain would not betray his country even after 5 years of torture.
You can put lipstick on a traitor, but he's still a traitor.

Howard,

You are misinformed.

It is certainly understandable that anyone would break under torture, and, as McCain wrote in his autobiography, he did so, and supplied information to the Vietnamese.

We are in very serious times in this country, and what is important is both the character of the candidates and the issues.

It is Republican deregulation of financial institutions which led to the current mess on Wall Street. Many Americans are losing much of their savings because of this.

McCain also wanted to privatize Social Security, so that people could invest that in the stock market. Can you imagine if that had gotten through and this had happened?

Financial mismanagement is one example among many of why we need sensible Democratic government, and not people who look out only for the wealthy like the Republicans.

Another is that Obama will cut taxes for middle class and working people and the elderly, while McCain's tax cuts go mainly for the wealthy.
