PROVIDENCE -- Five third-party presidential candidates tomorrow will learn the order in which their names will appear on Rhode Island's Nov. 4 ballot. A public lottery will be held at 5 p.m. at the State House, Secretary of State Ralph Mollis' office said. The Secretary of State's office will use a borrowed lottery machine to determine the order. The office invites the public to attend. The candidates had to collect signatures of at least 1,000 eligible Rhode Island voters to qualify for the ballot: The five candidates are: * Chuck Baldwin, Constitution Party * Cynthia McKinney, Green Party * Ralph Nader, Independent Party * Bob Barr, Libertarian Party * Roger Calero, Socialist Workers Party CommentsLeave a comment |

Of course none of these candidates stand a snowball's chance of garnering any significant number of votes, thanks in part to newspapers like the Providence Journal that give them no air time, not even to dignify them with name Tags under the blog.
Well, at least there are at least 1,000 voters out there who are willing to look at other options, and if the low turnout for the presidential election is anything like the primary, 1,000 is a pretty good start.
