The Carcieri administration has not yet filed a Superior Court response to the objections set forth by Council 94, the state employees union that has formerly opposed its plan to impose higher health insurance costs on state workers who rejected a contract proposal last month.

"We will be filing a brief in response to Council 94," spokeswoman Amy Kempe said, but did not specify when it will be filed or whether it can be expected before the start of tomorrow's 2 p.m. hearing on the matter.

Council 94, of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the largest state employees' union, has asked a Superior Court judge to temporarily block Carcieri from imposing the higher health insurance costs. The union filed a legal brief yesterday outlining its objections.

Last week, Carcieri agreed to Judge Patricia A. Hurst's request not to implement the increased premiums until she can consider the matter at tomorrow's hearing.
It is unclear if a decision will be made at that time.

The Gov is on solid legal ground.

Council 94 is delaying the inevitable.

They will accept the original offer or be replaced.
