Rep. Jim Langevin did not have the kind of prominent speaking role at this week's convention that he has enjoyed in the past. But like the entire Rhode Island delegation, he has been busy with politics. On Wednesday, Langevin, who is confined to a wheelchair by injuries suffered in an accidental shooting as a young man, was a featured guest Wednesday at a gathering sponsored by the National Spinal Cord Injury Association, the American Council of the Blind and other groups that help people with disabilities. Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., was honored, in absentia, for his efforts to help the disabled. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer was also an honoree. CommentsLeave a comment |
