Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean, the former Vermont governor, travels to Rhode Island Wednesday to speak at a fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

Dean is scheduled to speak at an Obama fundraiser at 6 p.m. at the Peerless Lofts Building at 150 Union St. in Providence. The minimum contribution is $250 per person.

A Dean spokesman said he is not holding any public events. The fundraiser is closed to the media and public.

Dean is no stranger to Rhode Island. He graduated from St. George's School in Middletown before attending Yale University. He was a practicing physician before becoming Vermont governor.
