It’s official: Democratic Rep. James R. Langevin will stand for reelection.
Langevin filed today with the Secretary of State’s Office (which he occupied before he came to Washington) to run for a fifth term as representative of Rhode Island’s Second Congressional District.
"It has been an honor for me to serve the constituents of the Second Congressional District for nearly eight years,’’ Langevin said in a statement issued by his campaign.
He pledged to "work to get our economy back on track, advocate for an end to our military involvement in Iraq and last, but certainly not least, solve our nation's health care crisis. These issues, among many others, will be my priorities once re-elected."
Langevin recently drew a Republican opponent, former North Kingstown Town Councilman Mark Zaccaria, who has acknowledged that he faces an uphill fight against the four-term incumbent.
