PROVIDENCE -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will make a campaign stop at Rhode Island College today, as the March 4 primary here and in three more states could prove crucial in picking the Democratic nominee. Doors open at noon at the "Stand for Change" rally, to be held at the college's recreation center, 600 Mount Pleasant Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Obama is expected to start speaking at 2 p.m. As one of four states holding presidential primaries on Tuesday -- the others are Vermont, Texas and Ohio -- Rhode Island has been on the circuit of all leading candidates. Yesterday, Chelsea Clinton spoke to a crowd of students at Roger Williams University. Former President Bill Clinton visited Rhode Island Thursday, speaking to a crowd at Bryant University in Smithfield, on behalf of his wife, Obama's opponent for the nomination, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Obama's wife, Michelle, visited last week, and Hillary Rodham Clinton was here last weekend, making her campaign stop at Rhode Island College as well. On the Republican front, both John McCain and Mike Huckabee have made campaign visits to Rhode Island. McCain held a rally at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, while Huckabee stopped at several sites. I'm a Clinton supporter and will post a few comments here.
Obama is dismissing Clinton's recent ad as fear-mongering. After you watch the two short videos on YouTube, you will see him using fear-mongering tactics in Iowa and ignoring the immigration part of her question.
Question: I want to know specifically what you would do to protect this country from terrorism, and are we going to close the borders, and are we going to get rid of the illegal immigrants?
Here's part of his answer…I am sorry but this is a part of the world that I have studied …Now, just to finish up, my job as Commander and Chief is to keep the American people safe. I got a 9 year old daughter and a six year old daughter. Don't think that I care any less than Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney about making sure that my daughters don't get blown up. I live in Chicago. It's a much more likely target than Grundy County for the next terrorist attack. So I take this deadly serious. And part of the reason I am running for president is because if we keep on down this same path we have been taking, this attitude that all Muslims are out to get us and our only job is to think militarily and we can't find ways of creating an understanding with these countries, then we are destined to have an ongoing war and we might as well sign up our young people now because it won't stop. It won't stop with Iran. We'll just keep on going and our country will be less safe over the long…

My cousin is watching out her window on Mt. Pleasant Ave. a great amount of people driving and walking to R.I. College to attend the Obama Rally . She reports many young people walking and a stream of red tail lights. This gentleman has invoked the interest of people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds..Why, I believe its because he is inspiring change and this change is for the betterment of our country. The politics of old must go. We are all one and we need people who will bring this country together instead of this separation of rich vs poor and playing one ethnic group against another..

I went thru the rather humongous process of getting a late absentee ballot after I broke my foot, and then hobbled out to the mailbox with it to vote for Obama.
Not only is he smart as a whip, but I really like the fact that he approaches problems calmly, by thinking them through, and knew Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and so spoke out against the war back when the Senate, including Clinton, voted to send this country into the terribly costly, unnecessary war we're in.
I prefer his health plan also, as opposed to Clinton's, which would garnish the wages of low income workers. I think many people could not afford that loss of income, and that the solution to universal health care has to take that into account.

i grew up in RI but i have been living in NYC for the past 10 years. if anyone needs to be worried about terrorism, it's us. i was here for 9/11, and the first question everyone had here after that event was WHY? the truth is that the US does not have good relationships with much of the rest of the world. i voted for obama because i believe he can change that. what he was saying in the debate was not fearmongering -- i think that is taking what he said sorely out of context. he was saying that he takes the danger of terrorism seriously, and that he would use diplomacy and relationships to fight terrorism at its root CAUSES. he's not just posturing like a "tough guy," like bush or giuliani, saying "well we'll just have to blow up anyone who doesn't like us." what would that accomplish, in the long run? it would just perpetuate the cycle of violence. we need someone who is not so short sighted. that is why obama knew to speak out against the iraq war, which, if anyone remembers that time, was a VERY UNPOPULAR POSITION. look now what history has taught us...
wish i could be there for the rally!!!

I just have to set the record straight because obama has been lying to all of us and again today claiming he and his campaign hasn't engaged in dirty politics. The truth is he has been the most divisive and nasty campaigner I have seen in my life time and I am linking an article that lays the facts out that the MSM have been participating and allowing obama and camp to smear Hillary and Bill. Don't let him fool us!!

The New Republic
Race Man by Sean Wilentz
How Barack Obama played the race card and blamed Hillary Clinton.
Post Date Wednesday, February 27, 2008
"After several weeks of swooning, news reports are finally being filed about the gap between Senator Barack Obama's promises of a pure, soul-cleansing "new" politics and the calculated, deeply dishonest conduct of his actually-existing campaign. But it remains to be seen whether the latest ploy by the Obama camp--over allegations about the circulation of a photograph of Obama in ceremonial Somali dress--will be exposed by the press as the manipulative illusion that it is."
"While promoting Obama as a "post-racial" figure, his campaign has purposefully polluted the contest with a new strain of what historically has been the most toxic poison in American politics."
". A review of what actually happened shows that the charges that the Clintons played the "race card" were not simply false; they were deliberately manufactured by the Obama camp and trumpeted by a credulous and/or compliant press corps in order to strip away her once formidable majority among black voters and to outrage affluent, college-educated white liberals as well as college students"
"Above all, it is a commentary on the cutthroat, fraudulent politics that lie at the foundation of Obama's supposedly uplifting campaign."

Obama is the future of this country. He truly cares for all Americans and not just some. Unfortunately, Clinton has a bad background filled with corruption and doubts. She continues to keep money from corrupted donors including some with women's harassment charges. Bill has been charged with perjury. He preferred to save himself than to safeguard the country. Hillary has flip flop on NAFTA and has changed her face on issues at least 5 times during this primary election alone. They will do anything to win including lying to the voters. We know enough about them. Let change this story. Let's leave room for a new generation.

Was the Obama rally well attended today? - crowd reaction?

Stood in line for three hours today to see Obama--got turned away before even getting close to the door due to the enormous number of people who were there. The Rec. Center holds 5000; I'd guess that nearly that many were turned away. Still, we were treated to a short speech by Obama outside, and he reiterated his themes of helping Americans, to get health care, to afford college, to get out of the war in Iraq. "We need a bigger boat," he began, eliciting laughter from the cold, soggy crowd who had stood for hours waiting for him.
I've never seen anything like it. It's a movement.

After enjoying an extremely invigorating and exciting rally at RIC, I, along with many citizens who are engaged in the political process or simple curious were greeted with whopping $30 parking tickets. Our cars were not blocking driveways, obstructing fire hydrants or resting on sidewalks. In fact, many of the side streets did not have any "prohibited parking" signs. Perhaps the good mayor saw an opportunity to make a quick buck, or worst yet -take a political cheap-shot. At any rate "Shame-on you David Cicillini!" Go OBAMA

A lot of people is voting for Hillary, hoping for another 1990s - when the economy is good. What they forgot to remember, was that the Clinton entered the Whitehouse after a recovery (early in the 90s), energy was cheap, there was few to no competition from India and China. We also learn that the Clintons have tons of scandals during their 8 years. Are we going to sit through another 4 years of Clinton new scandals? and why hasnt Clinton release their income tax? One wonder where they got $5 millions.

I am an avid Barack Obama supporter and was present at the inspirational rally today. Thousands of people who represented all demographic groups united in their support of this exceptional man who is both brilliant AND charismatic.
It was most heartening to witness the throngs of supporters who have had the courage to scratch beneath the surface rhetoric of the infamous Clintons.
Someone like Barack Obama is, indeed, a rarity and this country would be so fortunate to have him as our Commander-in-Chief at ANY time of day or night, including 3:00 AM!!!

Incase you missed it........................
During the Feb 19th debates in Ohio Senator Obama who also serves as Chair of the subcommittee that has oversight over NATO admitted he has not held one single substantive hearing to figure out what the U.S can do to have a stronger presence with Nato in Afghanistan.
Obama admitted it was true stating it was because his responsibilities as chair began at the same time he started running for President. So while hundreds of thousand of our young men and women are at great risk and being killed in Afghanistan Obama’s admission that he was too busy running for president clearly proves he is not only NOT ready to be president, but someone should question his position as a senator as well.
The day after Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee noted that Senator Clinton has introduced more legislation to address the problems facing wounded service members than any other Senator, including The Dignified Treatment of Wounded Warriors Act (accomplished while running her presidential race).

“Professor Obama’s Political Plagiarism”
By SusanUnPC on February 13, 2008 at 7:51 PM
BLOOMBERG TELEVISION’s “Money & Politics.” The quote is from the “Dollars and Sense” segment with Gene Sperling and Kevin Hassett:
The fact is that Obama’s [economic] plan today is the most shameless piece of potential plagiarism that I have ever seen. He basically took Clinton’s words and Clinton’s policies and called them his own. If I were a professor I’d give him an F and try to get him kicked out of school for something this terrible…If I were on the Clinton team, I’d be prepping memos.
- Kevin A. Hassett, Senior Fellow and Director of Economic Policy Studies, American Enterprise Institute, John McCain adviser (H/t AndreWalker08 at MyDD.com)
It must also be noted that John Edwards’ economic stimulus plans were also widely acknowledged to be vastly superior to Obama’s far weaker plans. NYT columnist and economist Paul Krugman, in January, wrote: “[L]ast month, before the economic consensus turned as negative as it now has, [John Edwards] proposed a stimulus package including aid to unemployed workers, aid to cash-strapped state and local governments, public investment in alternative energy, and other measures.”
“Those covering Senator Obama’s economic speech in Wisconsin today could be forgiven if it felt like déjà vu all over again. Voters may ask themselves that if Senator Obama cannot produce his own ideas on the campaign trail, how will he solve new problems as President?,” asks Neera Tanden, Policy Director for the Clinton campaign.
“Senator Obama’s only ‘new’ ideas were ones that Senator Clinton proposed months ago,” Tanden continues.

Here we go again. We're in the 11th hour and Hillary is "Swift Boating" Obama again. Several months down the road we'll find out it's all a bunch of crap like all of her attack adds. I have a legitimate question for Hillary and her supporters. Since she voted for the War in Iraq, which my Son is fighting as we speak, why isn't Chelsea over there? Does she think she's better than my Son? Prince Harry doesn't. OBAMA '08!
