U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-Rhode Island, will hit the radiowaves tomorrow with the Democrats' response to President Bush’s weekly radio address. Whitehouse's office announced that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, tapped him to respond. According to a press release from Whitehouse's office, the statement will say that President Bush “chose political gamesmanship, rejecting a short extension of the Protect America Act that would allow Congress to complete its work. Make no mistake: if the surveillance law expires, if any intelligence loss results, it is President Bush’s choice. Period.” Whitehouse is a former U.S. Attorney and Rhode Island Attorney General, and member of the Senate Judiciary and Intelligence Committees. The response is set for 11:06 a.m. Whitehouse's office said in a news release it expects the speech will become available to affiliates of ABC, CBS, Fox, National Public Radio, the Associated Press, C-Span, the BBC, and some television networks.
