Despite a mixup on the Clinton campaign front on just when this was happening -- a press release last night initially said it would be today -- it was right in today's Journal: Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to come to Rhode Island for a rally Thursday, Feb. 28, on behalf of the Democratic presidential campaign of his wife, U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York. The Clinton campaign said details are still being worked out, but the event will be held in the evening. It's the second time a spouse of a leading contender for a presidential nomination will have visited the Ocean State in less than two weeks. Michelle Obama made two stops in Rhode Island yesterday, to push the campaign of her husband, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, who is locked in a battle with Clinton for the party nomination. Former President Clinton's visit will follow a stop by Hillary Clinton herself. She'll be in Rhode Island this Sunday. Details still to come. Last week, GOP frontrunner John McCain held a rally in Warwick, with his wife by his side. Still no confirmation on whether Obama -- whose wife's brother is the men's basketball coach at Brown University -- will come to the Ocean State. -- With Journal reports |
