Even with no money on the line, Lady Luck doesn’t seem to be on the side of one state representative.
Last week GTECH showed a group of lawmakers some new technology it plans to roll out in the coming months for lottery vendors to sell and redeem tickets.
To show just how it worked, a GTECH employee scanned a fake lottery ticket to see if it was a winner. Unfortunately, even in make-believe, the ticket was a losing one, prompting Rep. William San Bento Jr., D-Pawtucket, to say: “What’s new? All I’ve ever gotten is ‘not a winner.’ ”
