And finally, we bring you one final snapshot of this month’s inauguration.
After the event, the state’s five general officers had a lot of handshaking to do.
For nearly two hours they stood in the State Room shaking the hands of members of the public who cued up to have a brief word with them.
So, was there a fear of germs being spread during this cold and flu season?
Possibly, but that did not stop the politicians from doing what they have done all campaign season: shaking some hands.
There was however one unusual, but probably wise, precaution: a hand-cleaning station. Before visitors got to meet the politicians they were greeted by a table with bottles and bottles of antibacterial disinfectants.
Did the bottles stop the spread of germs?
Political Scene observed some, but not many, people using the free cleansing products. We figure the ultimate test will be if one of the general officers calls in sick this month.
