Most lawmakers showed up to last week’s inauguration in suits. But Sen. Daniel J. Issa, D-Central Falls, decided to break out a tuxedo as he has for all of his past swearing-in ceremonies since arriving in the Senate chamber in 1987.
Issa poked a little fun at his outfit when he noted that some members of the public might have thought he was part of the day’s staff, not an elected official.
“Two people gave me their keys and one person asked me for a drink on my way in,” Issa told the chamber.
