The governor’s office is seeking nominations for the 2007 Rhode Island’s Anchor of Hope Award, which was created last year in honor of those affected by The Station nightclub fire. The award honors those who have acted above and beyond the call of duty during an emergency or tragedy.
This year, nominations are being accepted for Rhode Islanders who assisted in any tragedy or emergency situation, regardless of where the incident occurred.
Awards will be presented for the Outstanding Responder in a Crisis Situation, to recognize a person who responded selflessly to help others, and for the Outstanding Support Toward Recovery, to recognize a person who provided outstanding support to victims of tragic events and who helped them put perspective and meaning to tragedy.
