Interviews are under way for the spring 2007 State Government Internship Program.

The spring session for interns begins the first week of February and continues through the end of April. Placements are available with the General Assembly and elsewhere across state government, from the attorney general’s office to the Office of the Child Advocate, from the Department of Environmental Management to the Department of Business Regulation and everything in between. The program also places interns with some entities outside state government, such as the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, Trinity Repertory Company and nonprofit agencies.

The program accepts students who are in high school or working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree at a college. Interns are expected to work 8 to 10 hours a week.

Interested persons should contact the program’s executive director, Robert W. Gemma, at (401) 222-6782 or intern@rilin.state.ri.us. There is no hard-and-fast application deadline, but applications should be submitted as soon as possible, Gemma said.
