JOHNSTON_ Lombardi's 1025 is the venue for tonight's Rally for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Sheldon Whitehouse and a speech boosting Whitehouse by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.
The old function room on Plainfield Street has seen many a garter tosssed, many a political speech given and many a testimonial dinner held.
The 1025 has long been a favorite for wedding receptions, retirement dinners and political fundraising `Times.' The 1025 was a favorite of former North Providence mayor and State Democratic Chairman Salvatore Mancini.
It has a big room with low ceilings and can hold hundreds of revelers or political party faithful. It has been the scene of Democratic state conventions and many labor union and athletic booster group meetings.
