The spending war over the casino continues.
So far, Harrah’s Entertainment has spent $8.4 million while Save Our State has spent $1.4 million, most of that coming from Lincoln Park and Newport Grand.
But Save Our State is trying to fend off some of the “Save Our Slots” criticism with a fundraiser this week. The group is charging $25 to $100 to attend the event at the Edgewood Yacht Club, in Cranston. Corporate sponsors are asked to donate $1,000.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m., features the group’s chairman, former Republican Gov. Lincoln C. Almond, and Gary S. Sasse, executive director of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council.
