JOHNSTON -- How do you fill time at a campaign rally when the featured speaker is a little late? When former First Lady Hillary Clinton wasn't ready to take the stage at the 1025 Club last Friday, Democratic operatives doled out free hotdogs and chips to the hundreds of people in attendance. And they played music. The first song on the CD was Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire." The compilation also featured Bruce Springsteen's "No Surrender" and Pearl Jam's "Alive." Where did the mix come from? Well, the phrase "Obama 1" appeared on the CD cover. There was an "Obama 2" nearby. Earlier this month, U.S. Sen. Barak Obama, and Democratic Party star, stumped for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Sheldon Whitehouse here. Wonder if Clinton minded there wasn't a "Hillary" 1 mix.
