CRANSTON -- Frank Mastrati Jr., a former Republican City Council president, has endorsed Democrat Michael T. Napolitano for mayor. Mastrati, a lawyer, served nine terms on the council and had once been considered a potential mayoral candidate himself. The endorsement comes only days after Napolitano's Republican rival, Allan W. Fung, was endorsed by Kevin J. McAllister, a former Democratic City Council president. Eight days before Election Day, both candidates are trying to emphasize their bipartisan support. -- Journal staff writer Benjamin N. Gedan |
