Gubernatorial candidates debate senior issues in Warwick

Governor Carcieri and Lt. Gov. Charles Fogarty will debate on issues affecting senior citizens at 1 p.m. today at the Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway, Warwick.

The forum is being hosted by the Senior Agenda Coalition and Forum on Aging. The debate moderator will be Channel 12 anchor Steve Aveson.

The debate is the last campaign appearance of the day for the lieutenant governor, according to his campaign.

Carcieri's schedule today includes the Fogarty debate and a candidate interview from 4 to 5:30 p.m. with the board of directors of the Rhode Island Hospitality and Tourism Association, at the Providence Biltmore hotel, 11 Dorrance St., Providence.

The governor's campaign hasn't yet released his schedule for tomorrow.

Fogarty's schedule for tomorrow includes:

11 a.m. - Speak at Operation Stand Down’s Grand Opening of their Education and Training Center, 790 Providence St., West Warwick

5 p.m. - Spaghetti dinner hosted by Cranston City Councilman John Lanni and candidate Richard Santa Maria, Knightsville Manor, Cranston

7 p.m. - Speak at veterans issue forum, American Legion Post, William Shields Post #43, 662 West Shore Road, Warwick

8 p.m. - Speak at Quisqueya In Action, Inc.’s 19th Annual Banquet, Providence Marriott Hotel, Orms Street, Providence
