A certain member of Maj. Gen. Reginald Centracchio’s campaign staff used to be with the opposition.
If you thought you remembered Frank Sullivan being with the campaign of Kernan “Kerry” King, you’re not crazy. Sullivan started out this political season providing advice for King’s campaign against Centracchio in the Republican primary for lieutenant governor. Now, Sullivan, 62, of North Kingstown, is finance director for Centracchio’s campaign.
So does Centracchio mind that Sullivan wasn’t with him from the start? In this case, it’s all in the timing. Sullivan didn’t wait until Centracchio won the primary to sign on. He joined Centracchio’s campaign at least a month before the Sept. 12 primary, he said last week. Sullivan, who also serves on the executive finance committee for Carcieri, said he left the King campaign because “it just wasn’t going anywhere.”
“I like to get in campaigns that are going to win,” he added. “The general’s going to win.”
Centracchio walked away with 67 percent of the vote in the primary. In the general election, he faces state Sen. Elizabeth H. Roberts, D-Cranston, and independent candidate Robert J. Healey Jr.
