Record turnout in Republican primary?
With interest in the Chafee, Laffey race, the state record for turnout in a Republican primary may be broken today.
That mark -- 45,023 voters -- was set in the 1994 Republican primary when gubernatorial candidates Ron Machtley and Lincoln Almond squared off.
No official numbers have been reported, but several districts reported running out of forms used at polling places today.
